A couple hoping to take a romantic trip to see one of their favorite bands were shocked to realize the truth about their tickets.
According to ABC 7, Duncan Robb had nothing but good intentions when he decided to surprise his girlfriend with two tickets to see her all-time favorite band, the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Unfortunately, the pair didn’t notice until just a few days before the big concert that they had actually scored ticket to see the Red Hot Chilli Pipers –"the most famous bagpipe band on the planet," according to the band’s own website—not the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Still can’t believe we’ve flown over to Belfast not for the @ChiliPeppers but to see the ‘worlds best bagpipe band’ @chillipipers ... thought I’d got a rate good deal on tickets n’all. Had a nightmare pic.twitter.com/YO72amVR4I

While speaking with Storyful, Robb revealed that he had found the tickets while searching for tickets to see a boxing match.

The Chesterfield native noticed that the tickets were a little cheaper than expected, but he just assumed that he’d snagged an incredible deal to see the Californian band in Belfast.
"When I clicked on and got tickets in row Q and for 30 each I thought what a bargain, there must not be many tickets left and snatched them up straight away," he explained. "Also, I saw the date was Feb. 10, so I could make it into a Valentine's Day weekend - kill two birds with one stone."
Thrilled by his big surprise, Robb gave his girlfriend the tickets on Christmas Day, and neither realized they were actually seeing a completely different band until just a few days ago.

As it turns out, the Red Hot Chili Peppers were never even performing in Belfast!
"Fast forward a month and we get the actual tickets through the post - brilliant! Up they went on the board - still nobody had noticed my mistake. It was only until the Wednesday before when my gf wanted to know who was supporting them. She couldn't find anything about the Red Hot Chili Peppers performing in Belfast," Robb said.

Because the couple had already flown to Belfast for their big Valentine’s getaway, they decided to just go ahead and see the Red Hot Chilli Pipers.
"(We) just had to laugh about it - what else was there to do! The only saving grace was that we had found out three days before and not while we were in the arena!" Robb said.
After his story went viral on social media, Robb explained that he and his girlfriend still hope to see the Red Hot Chili Peppers in concert one day.
“We found out on the Wednesday, flew over on the Friday and I tweeted on the Saturday hence the ‘still can’t believe,’” he tweeted. “Was a mixture between disbelief, shock and hilarity. How could I have been so stupid? Hopefully we will get to see the real Chilli Peppers some day.”
And, according to a few Twitter users, Robb wasn’t the only one who made this mistake.
“Hahahahahaha at least i wasn't the only one,” one woman commented.
