Although the passenger inside the car was arrested, the driver ended up running all the way across Highway 59 to an area behind a Taqueria Arandas restaurant.
While officers eventually caught up with the man and used a Taser on him, he quickly tried to fight back with his gun, which is how one officer ended up with a bullet wound to the chest.
Officials say that since the officer did not have a bulletproof vest on, the bullet went across his chest and through his side.
